Archery

Watching the satisfying swoosh of your arrow speeding through the air and landing in the target – there’s nothing else like it!  All kit is provided, and sessions are led by our qualified Archery GB instructors.  Our fun and engaging sessions are fully inclusive with activities tailored to individual needs.  

 

This session runs on Wednesdays. 8.30 - 9.30pm

Climbing

Climbing is not only a fun and challenging sport but provides tremendous health benefits by improving strength and flexibility.  The climbing walls are great for children and young people of all abilities that want a challenge. The walls offer different angles, routes and problems that will ensure each member of the group is challenged.

 

All kit is provided, and sessions are led by qualified instructors and supported by youth workers.

 

Young people must be able to attend independently or have a parent/carer staying onsite. 

 

This session runs weekly on Tuesdays.  7:45 – 8:45pm

CYCLING

Our cycling project is a community resource helping young people with additional needs the opportunity to have fun cycling, by offering access to a range of adapted cycles.  Our hire scheme is available to individuals with additional needs, families and organisations (schools, day centres or clubs).

Fitness

Stay healthy and work out! Our Fitness sessions provide a safe, friendly and active environment for young people to become more physically active.

 

Our sessions provide a comfortable environment that combines many types of training within a sociable setting where young people can spend time, improve their physical and mental wellbeing while also catching up with friends.

KARATE

Karate is a system for training that can be used in self-defence, however Karate does not only involve techniques for fighting – it also involves mastering the arts of mental discipline and physical exercise.

 

Our classes allow for all abilities, so students are able to learn, improve and explore their capabilities. Our Sensei (Coach) has loads of knowledge and experience and are passionate and enthusiastic about the sport.

ninja warriors

TAG Ninja Warriors sessions are inclusive sessions that happen on Sundays at Ham Youth Centre, on the first Sunday of each month. There is a £10* suggested donation per session.  Booking is essential.  This session is ideal for those who feel energetic! 

 

Expect to learn a wide and full range of parkour techniques, whilst at the same time taking inspiration from the hit TV show Ninja Warrior UK, where the aim is often to get from one end to the other, without touching the floor.

 

Learn from our Coach: 2 x Ninja Warrior UK finalist (series 3 and 5).

 

All ages, 4.30-6pm

PARKOUR

Parkour is a movement activity that promotes health and fitness while also teaching our children and young people to master their bodies and minds. It develops self-efficacy, confidence, problem-solving skills and introduces a holistic, variable movement activity into their lives. 

 

Sessions include running, jumping, climbing, vaulting, rolling and make use of our top of the range parkour equipment.

 

Sessions are supervised by a level 1 Parkour Coach

PARKOUR ACADEMY 

 

Ideal for those who want to learn how to free run.  Train in one of the best-equipped parkour environments. This session runs once per month.

 

Sessions include running, jumping, climbing, vaulting, rolling and making use of our top-of-the range parkour equipment.

 

Sessions are led by a Level 2 parkour coach.

roller SKATING

Join us with 4 wheels strapped to each foot and have some fun on our roller skating rink!  It’s a great place to let your hair down and enjoy some amazing time with family and friends.

 

All kit is provided, and sessions are led by a competent skater and supported by a youth worker.  Young people must be able to attend independently or have a parent/carer staying onsite.

SCOOTERING

Scootering is an extreme sport that involves using scooters to perform tricks. Our Scootering sessions are mainly held indoors and in skateparks.  We have our own indoor environment with obstacles such as half pipes, ramps and rails. Our sessions are held on the last Sunday of each month at Ham Youth Centre. 

 

All kit is provided and sessions are led by a coach and supported by youth workers.  

 

This session runs on alternate Sundays, 4.30-5.30pm 

8-25 year-olds

The suggested donation is £10 per session. Booking is essential.

SHOOTING

Air rifle shooting is one of the most accessible forms of shooting. Our shooting sessions give young people a chance to learn the basics of safe gun handling and the art of shooting straight.

SKATEBOARDING

Skateboarding is an action sport that involves riding and performing tricks using a skateboard. All kit is provided and sessions are led by qualified instructors and supported by youth workers.

SNOWSPORTS

Our Adaptive Snowsports programme aims to give disabled people thrills and excitement which improves the mental and physical wellbeing of those taking part.  

 

We provide lessons on both dry slope and indoor snow. Lessons are delivered by fully qualified adapted skiing and snowboarding instructors from Disability Snowsports UK, supported by our dedicated team of youth workers.

The Snow Centre, St Albans Hill, Hemel Hempstead, HP3 9NH                                               

Our recreational Snowsports session exists to enable our skiers and boarders the opportunity to practice what they have learned during lessons.  They provide young people with a safe, fun and social environment to ski and snowboard.

 

This monthly session provides competent skiers/boarders practice time on the main slope at The Snow Centre Hemel, with a skilled and highly motivated volunteer helpers and instructors from Disability Snowsports UK to assist. 

Young people must be able to attend independently or have a parent/carer staying onsite.

 

8 – 25 years

Usually on the last Sunday of the month.  

4-6pm (non peak) or 6-8pm (peak season)

 

 Sports camps

Stay physically active with our school holiday sports camps. These sessions include various sports which can include archery, ball games boccia, fencing, kurling, UniHoc to name a few.

 

Our fun and engaging sessions provide a comfortable environment within a social setting where young people can spend time, improve their physical and mental wellbeing while also catching up with friends.

YOGA

Yoga is becoming more popular every day – not just for adults, but for children as well.  Perhaps more important, for children with SEND, it can be used as an alternative therapy.  Yoga can help increase concentration, flexibility, and strength.

It can also develop coordination and reduce stress and anxiety.

Membership & Waiver

In order to take part in any of our clubs, sports or arts programmes a parent or guardian must register your child or young person as a member and complete a membership form. One of our friendly Youth Workers will help guide you through the completion of the form and ask for any additional information that could help us support your child’s needs.

Some of the sports activities are extreme sports and there is risk of injury whilst taking part. TAG Youth Club has appropriate insurance for all the activity it provides, and each has its own risk assessment available on request. We also employ suitably qualified leaders for each activity. In order for us to be compliant each sport or activity will detail what clothing is required, and you must ensure that the appropriate clothing for the activity including trainers are worn. We reserve the right to refuse access to the activity if this is not adhered to. You will be asked to complete a waiver form before taking part.
